Finding The Right Place To Earn Engineering Degree

By
I want to earn an engineering degree. The schools I've been looking into are all in the Northwest United States. I am interested in the cities where all of the schools are located because I hope to become active in my community. I want to experience a new place and new things while I am in school. I'm looking for a school with an active student body, a Unitarian Universalist church nearby and plenty of political activists in the area to keep things interesting.

Earning an engineering degree at Henry Cogswell College would have me living in Everett, Washington. I found a church in the area that sounds like a lot of fun and a way

to meet a lot of people. The Edmonds Unitarian Universalist Church is only eight miles from Everett. I think that if I went to school there, I would really enjoy this church community. Having a Unitarian Universalist church nearby is important to me.

The University of Alaska in Fairbanks has a good program for earning an engineering degree. The campus life there is really active and sounds like so much fun. When I first visited their website, I found information on a summer concert series that they were hosting with some of the most talented musicians in Alaska. I wished I was there already. I visited the website of the UU Fellowship of Fairbanks and their congregation looks really active.

Living in Denver would be a lot of fun. I could go to school at the Denver Engineering School at University of Colorado. The ACLU is very active there and I would love to be a part of that. I want to be involved in politics and I share a lot of common ground with the ACLU. I'm sure that I could really get involved while I was earning an engineering degree. There are two UU churches in Denver to choose from.

The only school that I've been looking into that isn't in the Northwest United States is the University of Hawaii at Manoa. They have a program for earning an engineering degree that is similar to the programs I've already been looking at, but living in Hawaii sounds like the most beautiful place to live. I am hard pressed to come up with a place that would be as peaceful. I would more than likely rarely get to attend church there; the closest UU church is in Honolulu.

I've already received an acceptance letter from the University of Idaho Engineering School. I'm not going to go there unless all of my other choices turn me down. It was my last choice. My grandmother lives in Idaho and told me that if I wanted an engineering degree, I should go there. I have visited Idaho periodically in my life and just can't envision myself living there while earning my engineering degree. She is a member of the UU Church of the Palouse in Moscow where the school is and I just don't feel like I'd fit in there.
